Boasting the very latest JCB Command Plus cab, the new 417 wheeled loading shovel is built to be strong, reliable and all-day comfy. As a key part of the on-site process, it’s also designed to be supremely productive, offering superb performance without the time-consuming inconvenience of a DPF.
By introducing Command Plus, we’re now able to add best-in-class comfort, visibility, ergonomics and quietness to the numerous other benefits of this wheeled loader. Those benefits include superior serviceability, safety and a whole lot more.

The ROPS structure on the 417 wheeled loader is redesigned; A pillars are the same width as the rear of the cab, providing a larger interior and panoramic front windscreen. Switches and auxiliary controls are now on the right-hand A-pillar.
There are two full colour LCD screens to navigate the operating menus, one of which can double as a monitor for the optional rear-view camera. Using your JCB’s simple, dedicated menu interface is easy with an intuitive optional rotary controller.
As standard, the JCB 417 wheeled loading shovel is equipped with heated external mirrors that can be electronically adjusted from inside the cab. Convex mirrors are also available to give the best possible field of vision.
An all-new air venting system boasts nine demisting vents and six operator vents to maintain visibility and operator comfort at all times. It also operates at a reduced noise level.
All controls are seat-mounted, even moving with the seat suspension. You can also select the control system that’s best for your operators: choose from single lever joystick or multi-lever configurations, all using electro-hydraulics for the ultimate in precision.
After extensive research into operator ergonomics, we’ve devised the Command Driving Position, which boasts the very optimal control layout for a multitude of different driver shapes and sizes.
Because there’s no DPF, there’s no unnecessary additional fuel piping, nor the potentially dangerous temperatures associated with the regeneration process. The fuel that would have been needed to restore your DPF is used for actual productive work instead.
High back-off brakes reduce viscous drag during roading and rehandling, which boosts fuel efficiency, while a viscous coupled fan automatically adjusts this wheeled loading shovel’s engine speed depending on ambient temperature, optimising cooling, saving fuel and lowering noise.
Innovative variable displacement pumps feed a load-sensing valve block, which only consumes power on demand, providing precise, efficient loader control. Operating specialist attachments is easy on the JCB 417 wheel loader via an in-cab adjustable proportional auxiliary flow rate.
Our 4-speed transmission gives you a range of gears to suit a wide range of applications. What’s more, your loader operator can choose from manual or automatic gear shifting at the press of a button.
The JCB 417 wheel loader features 156 l/min double gear pump hydraulics for fast cycle times and excellent multifunctioning capability. A variable geometry turbocharger, meanwhile, provides increased performance at low engine speed for improved cycle times and tractive effort.
This loading shovel is fitted with a JCB EcoMAX 4.4-litre engine, which produces peak power (93 kW/125 hp) and torque (550 Nm) at low revs for excellent response.
There’s no need to worry about wasting time and money replacing diesel particulate filters (DPFs). EcoMAX meets Tier 4 Final/Stage IV legislation using only exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR). This setup also improves fuel economy.
With a choice of axle options you can tailor performance to any application.
A standard-fit high torque (HT) loader arm allows you to perform parallel lifting with many attachments, affording excellent visibility to your attachment at all heights. Optional high lift or super high lift arms helps you perform higher loading height applications.
The transmission disconnect feature performs clutch cut-off for efficient, productive loader control. This feature controls tractive effort via the transmission, diverting maximum power to your wheeled loading shovel’s hydraulics and reducing brake wear and fuel consumption.
The JCB 417 wheeled loader’s articulation joint has a heavy-duty box section, a heavy-duty centre pin and oversized bush, as well as twin taper roller bearings on the bottom box joints. This setup can easily tolerate vertical and horizontal loadings.
Finite element analysis, as well as extensive endurance and rig testing ensure superior structural strength and durability. Cold cell testing guarantees starting performance down to -20°C.
High tolerances and accurate location of pins and bushes are assured with JCB’s precision machining techniques. State-of-the-art manufacturing processes like robot machining, precision paint technology and innovative assembly techniques help to achieve the very highest levels of build quality.
A solid cast rear counterweight protects the rear of your JCB 417 wheel loader – including the rear lights and cooling pack – from damage. Hoses are neatly routed and clamped through the articulation joint, well away from any pinch points.
Steering rams are positioned high up and well protected from possible impact and site damage. For additional protection, there are impact-resistant fender edges and trims fitted.
This wheel loader has integral steel fluid tanks for the ultimate in leak protection: a far superior solution to the plastic tanks favoured by some competitors.
On the new JCB 417 wheel loader, you’ll find the rear-view mirrors mounted in front of the A-pillars for improved visibility. Interior mirrors, heated exterior mirrors and bonnet mirrors combine to offer excellent views all around your wheeled loading shovel.
Access steps on this loader are inclined and equally spaced, complemented by well positioned grab handles for three points of contact at all times. Non-slip walkways and additional grab handle options allow for safe movement around the machine.
Full fender coverage flaps have been carefully designed to keep forward spray to a minimum for all tyre options. This increases safety and decreases debris build-up on your wheeled loading shovel.
The cab is isolator-mounted, compliant with ROPS/FOPS standards, and positively pressurised against dust. You can choose from fresh air or carbon filters as well. The battery and toolbox are lockable for added security.
Our optional rear-view camera displays an unobstructed rearward view on the in-cab colour monitor on this wheel loader. Superb visibility in dark conditions is guaranteed with JCB’s optional LED lighting.
The red and white chevron counterweight option aids machine visibility to passing vehicles and bystanders.
