13 TONNE EXCAVATOR INCREASES PRODUCTIVITY BY 20% ON NSW COTTON FARM

Toby Makin, General Manager of Australia Food and Fibre Kooramba Cotton Gin, bought a new JCB 13 tonne excavator in November last year. He has already noticed a 20% improvement in cycle times using the JS 130LC compared to his previous excavator.

Toby bought the 13 tonne excavator specifically for maintenance on the 5,400 ha of cotton developed land in Boomi, northern NSW – namely maintenance on pump sites and patching up small irrigation channels.

“The JS130LC has definitely improved productivity with maintenance on pump sites. Compared to the old machine, it’s about 20% quicker lifting out the pump centre,” Toby says. “Its movements are very fine, which is great for us on pump sites as the maintenance requires really precise movements.”

He adds, “It’s also very smooth in its operations – from moving around the site, slewing left and right and lifting up and down.”

Servicing

The air filter on the JCB130LC excavator is easily accessible, and a double a double-element construction simplifies cleaning.

The filters on this excavator (engine oil, hydraulic oil and fuel) are centrally located for fast, easy servicing.

The engine radiator, hydraulic cooler and intercooler are mounted side by side for individual servicing and easy cleaning.

JCB’s In-Cab Monitory checks engine oil levels, coolant, and system errors on start-up.
