JCB’s new TM320S Agri articulated telehandler
JCB’s new TM320S Agri articulated telehandler is unlike any other product on the Australian market: a cross between a wheel loader and a telehandler, it is exceptionally manoeuvrable to allow loads to be placed with greater precision, even in tight or tricky locations.
“The TM320S combines the compact manoeuvrability of a wheel loader with the exceptional lift height of a telescopic boom. Its articulated steering and side shift functions allow for true precision in spot loading,” says JCB Product Manager Greg Sealey.
“Because it’s so highly manoeuvrable, the TM320S is especially suited to ag tasks like grain handling, as it can easily get in and out of storage and around obstacles. It has controls like a wheel loader, all at the operator’s fingertips, so navigating tricky spaces is very simple.”
The TM320S is powered by a 108kW super-efficient JCB EcoMAX engine, with high torque at low revs for reduced fuel consumption. Its oscillating centre joint and permanent four-wheel drive give reliable performance in any conditions, while the 6-speed JCB Powershift transmission delivers high efficiency and productivity.
“The TM320S has a forward reach of three metres, a lift capacity of 3.2 tonnes and a lift height of 5.2 metres,” Greg says. “What that means is exceptional productivity across a big range of agricultural tasks.”
Greg says JCB is the biggest supplier of telehandlers to agriculture in Australia, across operations ranging from dairy to broadacre to cotton.
“Telehandlers are useful for a wide range of on-farm jobs including loading trucks, stacking bales, grading roads, feeding out stock and much more. The return on investment is very strong.”
The TM320S has been built for ease of use and all-day comfort. It has an on-screen display of hydraulic flow rate, which can be adjusted on the go, and a variable speed cooling fan to reduce noise. The instrument cluster is designed for intuitive use even by inexperienced operators.
The model offers the option of two boom auxiliaries with in-cab changeover switch, and standard in-cab quickhitch pin isolation.
“Serviceability has also been built into the design,” Greg says. “All servicing can be done from ground level for maximum safety, while a cyclonic pre-filter and air intake scavenge system prevent build-up of debris in the cooling pack.”
Greg says the TM320S is a perfect example of the way JCB is continuing its tradition of innovation in agriculture.
“JCB is committed to delivering equipment that makes a real difference to farmers. We understand what it really is that farmers need, and that insight allows us to deliver products that are exceptional value because they combine innovation with versatility.”
He says the telehandler design reflects the philosophy of other JCB products, including its flagship Fastrac tractor.
“Our Fastrac tractor is another great example of the way uniqueness and versatility can go hand in hand,” Greg says.
“It’s a really specialised piece of equipment as the only tractor on the market with full suspension of each wheel, but it’s not a one-trick pony. The Fastrac can be used all year round, from spraying to pulling chaser bins to tillage and more.
“Our skid steer loaders are unique, too, as the only models on the market with side entry for exceptional safety, while our agricultural wheel loaders are designed with impressive power-to-weight ratio that makes them perfect for working with silage and hauling bulk materials.
“Across the JCB range, there are countless design innovations that give our ag customers more than they expect and deliver better results for their businesses.”
