JCBCEA Adds Versatile All-Rounder to Wheeled Loader Range

Monday, October 19, 2015

JCB Construction Equipment Australia (CEA) has expanded its Wheeled Loader range, with the new entrant sure to win a legion of fans among farm and construction site operators.

The 409ZX is a highly productive wheel loader with the compact dimensions, performance, versatility, agility and uncompromised productivity that loyal customers have come to expect from JCB.

Fitted with a turbo-charged 2.5-litre, four-cylinder JCB Diesel by Kohler* engine, it produces 55.4kW of power at 2,200/rpm and 300Nm of torque at 1,500/rpm. It also meets Tier 4 Final/Stage-3B emissions regulations using just a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) rather than a diesel particulate filter (DPF), reducing servicing and running costs, making it more frugal than the outgoing Tier-3 models.

“This loading shovel is the perfect tool carrier,” says Greg Sealey, JCB CEA National Product Manager.

Compact and Productive Wheel Loaders

“It’s compact, which gives it versatility on a range of sites, as well as being highly productive and extremely safe, reliable and comfortable. It also offers JCB’s straightforward serviceability, which is so important when the job is running to a tight schedule.

“The hydrostatic AWD makes these models very easy to use, even for someone who is not an experienced operator,” Greg says. “Low rev power and torque means there’s less risk of overpowering the machine at a cost to fuel economy.”

Greg says JCB CEA offers several axle options on the JCB 409ZX Wheeled Loader including open diffs for hard ground and limited slip diffs for soft muddy terrain.

“Our 100 per cent switchable front axle diff lock option provides ultimate traction on mud and doesn’t create any shear forces, so it won’t damage the ground when it’s not in use. It can also be engaged on the move and under load.

“The bottom line is, this is a really flexible machine that gets the job done. It’s powerful yet easy to operate and service, and extremely fuel efficient. The 409ZX is also safe and secure, designed to protect its operators and anyone in the vicinity, as well as itself.

“To keep the machine secure, a new immobiliser option is available, providing a security and prevention of theft. There’s also an in-cab quick-hitch isolation system to prevent attachments being released without proper control,” Greg says.

“Bearing in mind that a comfortable, confident operator is a more productive employee, JCB has tailored the cabin to optimal comfort, including maximum space, minimal noise levels, and a highly efficient heating and air conditioning system,” Greg says.

The operating position takes advantage of the external design, allowing for all-round visibility, while all the instruments needed to operate the machine are within easy reach of the ergonomically-designed air suspension seat, steering column and joystick control system.

That easily accessed information, along with the new sloping one-piece bonnet which allows fast access to the engine and drive train, where all service points are grouped for convenience, means servicing the 409ZX is a breeze.

“The 409ZX is a simple, logical and extremely user-friendly machine, whether you’re the mechanic or the operator,” Greg says.

“It’s capable of many tasks, with plenty of optional extras which allow us to create a perfect solution to any customer’s needs, as well as a huge range of easily interchangeable attachments. We believe the 409ZX will tick the boxes for many of our customers.”

* JCB and Kohler Global Power Group entered into a partnership in late 2013 that led to several JCB compact machine lines being powered by Kohler engines. Branded ‘JCB Diesel by Kohler’, the engines are built at Kohler’s plant in Italy and are water-cooled Kohler Direct Injection engines (KDI).
